Earthlink does NOT require pop-before-relay when you use their mail-server from inside their network (in other words when you're dialed in through Earthlink). I don't know why you're not following what I'm writing, but I can set it up for you on a system of yours, or write step-by-step instructions for you, if you'd like (we do charge for custom services). I've used Earthlink dialup myself, from Northern Idaho, during several trips within the last year, and NEVER had a problem; I just set the laptop's copy of Eudora to use pop.nobaloney.net as my pop server and smtp.earthlink.net as my smtp server. I used smtp.socalix.com as the server, but you see the server shows up as smtp.popsite.net, which is the reverse DNS name of the mail server. You can rewrite headers on your server so the first received line (actually the bottom one, as they're added at the top) would show whatever you want, but you can't change the second one (the top on in the example below), it'll always show the reverse DNS name of the smtp server used. So if your client doesn't want to see anyone else's smtp server in the headers, they need their own system. (And just to avoid future questions, if you have more than one reverse DNS records for the IP# with one for each domain, it still doesn't mean the right domain name will show up; it only means that one will show up as random from the set of reverse records you've created.)
