You'll need PHP compiled with Oracle support. You didn't say which server your using or whether it was a pre-installed PHP version, a 3rd party PKG or an installation from RPM or source, but my guess is that your PHP is not compiled with Oracle support. If it is, the output of: <?php phpinfo(); ?> will show --with-oracle in the Configuration section.
