Import is merely a shortcut around "cobbler distro add", "cobbler profile add", and copying some content into /var/www/cobbler/ks_mirror. All you need to do is backup /var/lib/cobbler and your install tree. It's obviously best if you let cobbler manage it's own directories, so if you were trying to put things elsewhere, it might be better to just bind mount /var/www/cobbler/ks_mirror if you need to save space.
