write their own scripts.

May I jump in with a question?

Why not use some sort of configuration mgmt like puppet for this kind of 
deployments? Cobbler's job is only to bring the system from bare metal to the 
point it can contact configuration management... you're trying to do far more 
in the installation itself than it's meant for...

Or I may be wrong?
