Hello, Birders. Hannah and I poked went birding in the rain yesterday, Saturday, April 18th. Here's what we found: Boulder Reservoir, Boulder County. 2 Peregrine Falcons and 2 male Great-tailed Grackles. Also 225+ Redheads, 900+ American Coots, 1 Turkey Vulture, 4 Ospreys, 35+ American Avocets, 2 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Wilson's Snipe, 7 Say's Phoebes, 175+ Barn Swallows, 60+ Mountain Bluebirds, 8 American Pipits, and 1 Audubon's Warbler. We briefly bumped into Andrew Spencer & Co., and Andrew got us on a Euphagus blackbird that looked and sounded reasonable for Rusty. I wasn't certain, but Andrew's photos may prove definitive. McIntosh Lake, Boulder County. 2 Long-billed Curlews. Also 25 Lesser Scaup, 44 Plegadis ibises, 1 American Avocet, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Say's Phoebe, and 25+ Barn Swallows. Union Reservoir, Weld County. 5 Bonaparte's Gulls, 5 male Great-tailed Grackles, and 1 incongruous Rock Wren. Also 2 Horned Grebes, 2 Bald Eagles, 25+ American Avocets, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, 20+ Franklin's Gulls, 10+ California Gulls, and 75+ Barn Swallows. Panama Reservoir, Boulder County. While driving past, 5 fly-by Double-crested Cormorants and 1 Swainson's Hawk. Greenlee Preserve, Boulder County. 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet, the first I'd seen there this year. Also 8 American Avocets and 2 Greater Yellowlegs.
