Sorry for the late post.

 

The west side of the San Luis valley (as well as the north) were cold and
snow-packed. While the east side seemed more like spring all on the same
day. 

 

Of note:

.         2 pinyon jays at the Sand Dunes entrance gate

.         Several rough-legged hawks still present, one beautiful dark-morph
individual

.         Monte Vista NWR felt like the middle of winter. Snow-packed and
cold.q

.         Alamosa NWR felt like spring. Not much on the auto-tour, but the 2
mile hike along the Rio Grande was fantastic. Lots of singing song sparrows
with a different dialect than I am used to.

.         Loads of Great Horned Owls on nests.

.         Saw some SpringParsley (Cymopterus sp.) breaking ground on the
east side.
