I went birding with Mark Chavez on Sunday, March 7th, resulting in the
following highlights (sorry for the late post):

Wheat Ridge Greenbelt - Jefferson Co.
Rusty Blackbird - 2 (1m, 1f), west of I-70, in general area posted by several
others

Rocky Mountain Arsenal - Adams Co.
Harris's Sparrow - 1, maturing juvenile, at feeders

Banner Lakes WMA - Weld Co.
Long-eared Owl - 2, in Russian-olive/juniper shelter-belt

This morning, I spent a couple hours zooming around areas close to home in
Douglas County, resulting in the following highlights:

Great Horned Owl - 3, all on nests along Hwy-105, 2 of them only about 200yds
apart
Red-tailed Hawk - 4, and one was sitting in a cottonwood only 6-7' above the
head of a strangely tolerant Great Horned Owl on its nest
Lewis's Woodpecker - 2, at the "Leaning Tree" location just north of Sedalia
American Three-toed Woodpecker - 3 (2f, 1m), at the previously reported
location along Hwy-67 west of Sedalia & just east of Rampart Range Rd.
Evening Grosbeak - 14, at my feeders at home, still here every day and almost
continuously since they showed up Dec-6th, which is over 3 months now!

And finally, I still haven't seen a bluebird this year!

Good Birding,

Kirk Huffstater
Castle Rock, CO
