There is a singing Northern Parula in North Boulder just east of the
intersection of 16th and Hawthorn Ave, where the Farmer's Ditch crosses
under Hawthorn Ave. There's a paved bike path that leads from there to the
south, toward the Community Gardens. It's been singing from there for two
days, but only this morning did I finally get a look at the bird. I've now
confirmed the song against a Northern Parula mp3 track. It's been singing
up and down the section of Farmer's Ditch that runs along the western side
of the Community Gardens. Yesterday it was out of view to the north of
Hawthorn Ave. Today, it was high in a locust tree, about 20 yards south of
Hawthorn Ave along the paved bike path that leads to the Community Garden.

It's weird song carries for a long ways. I've been hearing it in my
backyard for two days now, and have failed to find it each time I ventured
in search of it, until just now. It's been driving me crazy.

In any case, if you want a Northern Parula on your Boulder list, this one
seems pretty accommodating at the moment. You might not see it, but you'll
very likely to hear it.
