Annual fishing licenses are $26 for Colorado residents. After April 1, there may be a $10 Habitat fee added on. I'm not sure about this. The DOW website is a little confusing. But a Colorado resident 64 or older can get a fishing license for $1. Even with a $10 Habitat fee added on, that would be $11 which is considerably cheaper than the Jumbo and Prewitt Access Permit. You can only purchase a habitat with a hunting or fishing license, unless you are looking to access Jumbo or Prewitt reservoir. Suggest everyone use the correct term for the fee requirement at Jumbo and Prewitt as people are clearly already confused. To access Jumbo and Prewitt those of us who do not have a fishing or hunting license need to purchase an ACCESS PERMIT. The change in language is not insignificant. The money to enter these two, and only these two, SWA's is not targetted to habitat. It is likely targetted to law enforcement (see the thread of discussion from March 16). It is important to know the name of the permit for Jumbo and Prewitt in order to purchase it correctly if you use DOW online license and permit system. It is important to use Access Permit so people don't think we are providing money for habitat. And using the correct name reduces the confusion with the old system that is no longer in use.
