I have a question to pose to other members of COBirds? What constitutes a rare bird, and how do they get picked up for the statewide RBA? This has been asked of a number of us in the Durango area, and nobody seems to know the answer. There is currently a Summer Tanager being seen in Durango, and we all thought that this surely is considered a rare bird for Colorado, but at least for the Durango area. My husband posted it to COBirds on the day that it was seen, and was never put on the RBA. This isn't the first time that something we have thought to be rare for Colorado or the vicinity has been posted and not put on the alert. Is there something that we need to include in the post for it to be picked up? Please advise so that we are able to better share the rare visitors to this area with everyone else, when they show up.
