Boulder County:
--2 Green Herons were reported by Mlodinow at Sawhill Ponds on August 11.
--1 Green Heron was reported by Floyd at Walden Ponds on August 19.

El Paso County:
--An "orange-variant" SCARLET TANAGER was reported by Walker at
Starsmore Discovery Center in Colorado Springs on August 8.  On August
9 Maynard reported that several birders watched the SCARLET TANAGER
feed young.  Ceci Lee reported seeing the SCARLET TANAGER on August 10.
Bill Maynard reported that the SCARLET TANAGER was seen on August 11.
Directions from Bill Maynard:  At the mouth of North Cheyenne Canyon,
turn and go up the canyon keeping (Starsmore) on your left as you
drive upstream.  After about .5 mile you will see a big green water
storage tank on the hill above you on the right.  In just a few
hundred feet there will be a free parking area on the right.  Park and
walk on the road upstream until you come to a path that will take you
to a footbridge on the left that has a short stone walls.  The tanager
was seen on both sides of the road and on both sides of the small
stream almost always very low in bushes in the area of the bridge.  If
you see tall Mountain Ashes in the streambed with lots of
orange-colored fruits you need to look mostly upstream from there.
There is lots of traffic on the narrow road
--A Green Heron was reported by Ceci Lee at Rice Pond in Fountain
Creek RP on August 13.  On August 15, Ceci Lee reported that the adult
Green Heron was accompanied by 2 fledgings at Fountain Creek RP.

Fremont County:
--A LEAST BITTERN was reported by Rich Miller on August 3 & 4 at the
cattail marsh at Holcim Wetlands.  Miller also reported a Black Phoebe
on August 4.  On August 5, Bill Maynard reported the Least Bittern, 2
Green Herons, and a male Indigo Bunting at Holcim Wetlands,  On August
6, Patrick reported Least Bittern and Black Phoebe at Holcim Wetlands.
 On August 6, Moss reported LEAST BITTERN and 2 Green Herons at Holcim
Wetlands.  On August 15 the LEAST BITTERN was seen by Rich Miller and
Moss at Holcim Wetlands.  On August 16, Percival reported hearing the
LEAST BITTERN.  On August 19, Rich Miller reported that the LEAST
BITTERN was more active than usual.

Huerfano County:
--2 Green Herons were reported by Nelder at Lathrop SP on August 7.
On August 14, Nelder reported one Green Heron at Lathrop SP.
--A Blue-winged Warbler and Tennessee Warbler were reported by Nelder
on Valley Road on August 14.

Jefferson County:
--An American Three-toed Woodpecker was reported by Keithler on the
Upper Maxwell Falls Trail south of Evergreen on August 16.

Larimer County:
--An ad NEOTROPIC CORMORANT was reported by Floyd at Timnath Reservoir
on August 14.  It was on the NE arm with access from Majestic View
Drive.

Moffat County:
--8 Purple Martins were reported by Luke at Freeman Reservoir on
August 13.  On August 17 Luke reported 14 Purple Martins at Freeman
Reservoir.

Pueblo County:
--A PHAINOPEPLA was reported by Calkins on Abbey Road east of Colorado
City on August 18.  Abbey Road is a gravel loop east of I-25 between
Hatchet Ranch exit and Colorado CIty.

The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, August 20 will be to Cherry Creek
State Park led by Chris Blakeslee (303-694-4670, and Mary Cay Burger
(303-771-3431).  Meet the leaders at 0700 in the Marina parking lot
near the park's west entrance.   Will be on paved or hard gravel
trails in various location around the reservoir so this is a
wheelchair accessible trip.  Bring snacks, sunscreen, and water for
easy half-day trip.  From Yosemite drive east on Union Ave. Just past
Cherry Creek High School is the west park entrance.  State Parks pass
required.

The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, August 21 will be to Roxborough State
Park led by Doris Cruze (303-798-8022)  Meet the leader at 0730 at
Roxborough Visitor Center.  To reach the park, take S. Wadsworth, past
Chatfield SP to Waterton Rd on left, Take Waterton Rd 1.6 miles east
to North Rampart Range Rd, turn right and go south 2.3 miles to
Roxborough Park Rd.  Turn left and follow signs to the park (2.2
miles).  Trip will end around 11:30 so lunch is optional but bring
plenty of water.  There is a nice place to enjoy lunch at the Visitor
Center. State Parks pass required.
