Many thanks to Glenn Walbek for finding the Red-throated Loon and
the three Surf Scoters this morning at Cherry Creek Reservoir!

Larry Modesitt and I saw the loon despite the wind and waves at
about 1-1:30 PM. John Drummond is looking at them now (2:40 PM) in 40 mph
winds and suggests that one shelter behind a tree. This would not be a good
idea
if the wind picks up a lot.
The loon must be about half-way between the east side picnic shelters
and the west-side Lake Loop, because it looked very far away from either
side to John and me! John says that the afternoon light makes loon viewing
easier from the Lake Loop now.
The 3 Surf Scoters were together, sleeping, in a small flotilla and
much closer to the east side. They were on a line between the north end of
the picnic
shelters and the marina.
