Five birders in four cars drove county roads east of Pueblo this morning,
looking for Snowy Owls and other raptors and other birds.  We didn't see any
Snowy Owls, though two Peregrine Falcons (Leon Bright and I both saw one,
different birds), Merlin, Bald and Golden Eagles, Ferruginous Hawks (both light
and dark ones), Red-tailed Hawks, American Kestrels, and both species of
shrikes were seen.  One party saw some Snow Geese in the far eastern part of
the county, flying east toward Otero County.

I stopped by Roselawn Cemetery in Blende for a quick look, and saw Red-breasted
Nuthatch, Brown Creeper, and Mountain Chickadee.  This location is a good spot
for Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in the winter, though I didn't see one today, and
haven't heard of one there this winter so far.

Good birding,
