Greetings All,
Today, Nick Moore and I covered a lot of ground in n. Weld County, starting at Crow Valley Cmpgnd and finishing at Windsor Lake. Highlights: Crow Valley: CURVE-BILLED THRASHER -- at ranger house a mile or two n. of campground. Singing like crazy. INDIGO BUNTING. Female at campground. EASTERN X SPOTTED TOWHEE at campground (female bird, color of Eastern Towhee but with a few buff scapular spots) Private Ranch w. of Grover: late for lowland GH JUNCO Grover: BROAD-WINGED HAWK Weld Co Rd 59 Ponds: A goodly variety of shorebirds including a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER (and nearly 50 LB Dows) Co Rd 74, just e. of Severance, Baldridge Estates: Pond just upon entering development had a lovely array of bird including one very cooperative GLOSSY IBIS. The birding seemed slow today, as in not many migrants at any one spot. But most places seemed to have one or two birds of some interest.
