It was along the shore and on the island of Heron Lake. Lowell Ponds is at 56th and Lowell. On August 13, Gilbert reported that the Little Blue Heron was along the shore of the island in Heron Lake. On August 16 Mlodinow reported the Little Blue Heron was along the shore of Heron Lake. On August 23, Gilbert reported that the Little Blue Heron was at the west end of Lowell Ponds in a pond near the parking lot. On August 24, Canter reported that the Little Blue Heron was at the west end of Heron Lake. On August 27, Hudak reported that the Little Blue Heron was in the pond west of the parking lot. On August 28, Mayfield reported that the Little Blue Heron was in a pond W of the Lowell Parking lot and South of Clear Creek. On August 29, Chavez reported that the Little Blue Heron was in the pond on the left from the parking lot on the S side of the river. On September 3, Canter reported that the Little Blue Heron was in the pond west of the parking lot. On September 6, Kibbe reported that the Little Blue Heron was at the pond west of the parking lot on the South side of Clear Creek. On September 11, Canter reported that the Little Blue Heron was at the west end of Carl Park pond west of the the parking lot and South of Clear Creek and Gilbert reported that the Little Blue Heron was at Lowell Pond on the pond south of Clear Creek on September 11. On September 15 Canter reported that the Little Blue Heron was at the west end of the pond west of the parking lot and south of bike pathlong Clear Creek. This pond is connected to Carl Park up on the bluff. --A m Nashville Warbler was reported by Newport on September 13 and 14 in bushes and trees along the lunch patio of Children's Hospital in Aurora. Arapahoe County: --On September 13, Walbek reported 2 Sabine's Gulls at Cherry Creek SP. Boulder County: --A juv Short-billed Dowitcher was reported by Schmoker at Teller Lake #5 (also known as North Teller Lake) in Boulder on September 9. Gent reported that the Short-billed Dowitcher continues at Teller Lake #5 on September 15. --2 Least Terns were reported by Floyd at Panama Reservoir on September 13. --A juv Sabine's Gull was reported by Gent on the S shore of Sixmile Reservoir in Boulder on September 15. Delta County: --A Black Phoebe was reported by Larry Arnold at the Fish Hatchery near Lazear on September 11. Douglas/Jefferson Counties: --A Snowy Plover was reported by Walbek at Plum Creek Delta at Chatfield on September 12. Kilpatrick reported that the Snowy Plover continues at Plum Creek Delta on September 13. El Paso County: --A Nashville Warbler was reported by Goff at Turkey Creek Ranch on September 10. El Paso/Pueblo Counties: --At Chico Basin Ranch (fee area) on September 10, Drummond reported a singing Blackpoll Warbler by the banding station (El Paso), a Yellow-throated Warbler in HQ Willows (Pueblo), and a Northern Waterthrush at Rose Pond (Pueblo). --At Chico Basin Ranch (fee area) on September 12, Percival reported Northern Parula and Eastern Phoebe on the El Paso side and Chestnut-sided Warbler at HQ and Northern Waterthrush at Rose Pond. --At the banding station at Chico Basin Ranch on September 13, Brown reported f hatch yr CONNECTICUT WARBLER, ad Northern Waterthrush, ad m Black-and-white Warbler, and hatch year m Scarlet Tanager. --At the banding station at Chico Basin Ranch on September 14, Brown reported ad Ovenbird, hatch yr White-eyed Vireo, and hatch yr Tennessee Warbler. --At Chico Basin Ranch on September 14, Percival reported 2 Broad-winged Hawks at HQ and Northern Waterthrush at Rose Pond on the Pueblo side; BLUE-HEADED VIREO at banding station, Chestnut-sided Warbler at the Casita, and Nashville Warbler on the El Paso side. Huerfano County: --A Caspian Tern was reported by Neldner at Wahatoya SWA on September 13. --2 Sabine's Gulls were reported by Neldner at Martin Lake in Lathrop SP on September 14. La Plata County: --A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Beatty at Pastorius SWA by the inlet canal on September 12. Larimer County: --A f RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD has been visiting the feeder at Sean Walters in Loveland since September 12. On September 11, Roller reported that the 2 Ruddy Turnstones continued at Prewitt. --A Cassin's Kingbird was reported by Kaempfer at Prewitt on September 14. --At Prewitt on September 15, Mlodinow reported Blackpoll Warbler. Morgan County: --At Jackson SP on September 15, Mlodinow reported 2 American Golden-Plovers at the outflow channel, a juv Sabine's Gull, ad Lesser Black-backed Gull, and 2 Chestnut-sided Warblers. Ouray County: --A Black Phoebe was reported by Garrison at Ridgway SP on September 12. Prowers County: --At Lamar Community College Woods on September 10, Duane Nelson reported a Nashville Warbler and imm Carolina Wren on the N end; an ad White-eyed Vireo, Tennessee Warbler, 1 Great Crested Flycatcher, 1m Northern Cardinal, 1 m Red-bellied Woodpecker at the S end. Pueblo County: --At Pueblo City Park on September 13, Percival reported 1 Northern Parula and 1 molting Summer Tanager. --At Valco Ponds on Septebmer 13, Percival reported Black Phoebe and Eastern Phoebe. --At Valco Ponds on September 15, Percival reported PHILADELPHIA VIREO and Northern Parula. --At Pueblo City Park on September 15, Percival reported 2 Northern Parula, Tennessee Warbler, 1 Summer Tanagers and Broad-winged Hawk. Washington County: --At the Akron Golf Course on September 15, Mlodinow reported Tennessee Warbler. The DFO field trip for Saturday, September 22 will be to Rocky Mountain Arsenal led by Dave Rhoades (303-424-8633). This is space-limited so call the leader if you want to go. Meet the leader at 0800 at the Arsenal Visitor's Center, 56th and Havana. Will bird until 1 pm. Lunch optional. A joint trip with Boulder Bird Club will be to Rocky Mountain National Park on Saturday, September 22 led by Chris Owens (303-772-6048). Meet a 0800 at the parking lot of Upper Beaver Meadows Trailhead, which is approx 2.3 miles from the Beaver Meadows entrance station. This trip will be mostly on foot through riparian areas. Trip will wrap up at 2 pm. Bring lunch, usual protection for sun and variable weather. The DFO field trip for Sunday, September 23 will be to Cherry Creek State Park led by Mary Keithler (303-771-1421). Meet the leader at 0800 at the park Marina for a half day of birding.
