I was fortunate to see the yellow grosbeak at around 5:30pm today. He flew
in for a few minutes to eat some seed put out on the ground to the left of
the deck below the feeder. He limped when he needed to adjust his
position, and often kept his right foot off of the ground. It does indeed
appear to be injured. I wonder if this would normally prevent him from
mating? Would the ladies view him as unfit? Not that there are any other
yellow grosbeaks this far north!
