Bird activity started out slow but improved as the morning went along. Four warbler species captured today (Common Yellowthroat, MacGillivray's, Orange-crowned, and Yellow-rumped warblers (Myrtle and Audubon's subspecies)). Flocks of Chipping Sparrows are still moving around the tree grove. First of the season captured species were Bullock's Oriole, Yellow-breasted Chat, Swamp Sparrow, Swainson's Thrush, MacGillivray's Warbler and Wilson's Warbler. One returning male Bullock's Oriole was caught today. It was not banded last spring so it has to be at least three years old. Pretty awesome to have a bird return to the same area to potentially nest. The Bullock's Oriole winters in southern Mexico.
