All,
I spent an enjoyable morning in NW Colorado Springs meeting a number of old
friends while waiting to see the Brambling. It was first seen about 9:15
on the west side of Meadowgreen Drive a few houses down from the
intersection with Pinon Valley Road. It was then seen around 10:45 in
trees on both sides of Pinon Valley Road a few houses south of the
intersection with Meadowgreen Drive. Thanks to the sharp-eyed guy who
pointed it out to the group because I had missed it earlier. This bird
feeds mostly on the ground in the backyards with feeders, so people have to
be patient and wait for the bird to fly into a tree or onto a fence. It was
nice to see that the whole observing group stayed either on the roads or
the sidewalks.
This is the first Brambling I have seen in CO for 40 years since one in
Boulder in December 1983 and January 1984. There are only 4 records of
this species in CO, found at:

Cheers, Peter Gent, Boulder.
Chairman CBRC.
