Is this a real problem for you, or a hypothetical one?
I try to point out another open issue. It is not a "problem" at the moment so
long I can completely choose consistent identifiers for my experiences with
semantic patches so far.
I suggest to reduce the probability for name clashes also in SmPL contexts.
I don't see what is being referred to in this article.
Do you see any features from template engines that can become relevant for your
software development tool?

How do you think about to mark the application of SmPL metavariables with a
special characters like the popular dollar sign?

I have asked the person who added the feature to check.
That is an interesting background information. - I am curious on further
feedback.
Regards,
Markus
