In ASP.NET, state info can be stored out of process in two locations:

1) ASP.NET State service. Which is a Windows service that can be enabled on
a node on the web farm that all of the other nodes point to.

2) SQL Server 2000. All state info is kept in a DB.

The performance impact between InProcess and Out Of Process is about 15%.
But that is an acceptable hit considering what you get.

What do you want to know? I was responsible for rolling out .NET at the
Fortune 500 that I worked at and one of the aspects that we dealt with was
Session State support in our web farm. There are things to watch out for
from both the configuration end as well as the AppDev end. Feel free to ask
the questions you have and I'll try and answer.

Subject: ASP.NET State Service

By default, ASP.NET will store the session state in the same process
that processes the request, just as ASP does. Additionally, ASP.NET can
store session data in an external process, which can even reside on another
machine. To enable this feature:

Where can i get more information for real life implementations using
session state and design patterns ?

Basically want to know the actual set up in a Web farm scenario.

        Regards
        Zion.
