Honestly.. I think the price you pay is dependent on where you live and the demand in the area. Of course, a breeder is going charge the most they believe they can get. That is why pups are so expensive in the pet stores.
I know where I live people spend way too much on everything including their dogs. So I can easily see a dog cost over 1000.. Just a random stray from a shelter is going to cost around 200..

Oh I disagree. I have NEVER paid over $400.00 for a puppy. I first had a yorkie, he lived 14 years. Never had one problem! We bought Haley, her mother was a cocker and father was a poodle. She was 10 weeks old when we got her, and had her puppy shots for her age. We have a few cockapoo breeders around here, and the most expensive is $500.00. All are reputable breeders. One doesn't have to pay a fortune to get a healthy puppy! Whoever is paying that much, sorry, crazy!

She's more hyper than my 1st gen cockapoo, and very yippie. She's quite a bit smaller, too. You get what you pay for - they only paid $300 for it, and it did not come with shots or deworming. Cockapoos typically go in the $1200-$1500 range. While they are not a true purebred, they are in high demand, resulting in the higher prices. The one you're seeing advertised is probably so inexpensive because it's not a true cockapoo, or it's not coming with it's full shots, deworming, etc.
Helen Martin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:Yes, I agree Christina. Usually it is 2 cockapoos parents and then it would be a 2nd generation. In the case below, I would honestly guess it could be hit or miss if the dog will be more cocker spaniel or not. You would probably have to get the dog to find out.
Christina <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:I've never heard of that, has anyone else? Normally the mom or dad is poodle and the opposite is cocker spaniel in order to get cockapoo. I think they breed 2nd generation cockapoo, don't they? The mother and father are cockapoo.

I am not interested in a dog with papers but am concerned that the dog might be more cockerspaniel than cockapoo and not be non shedding and good for allergies. Is my thinking correct?
