Kim, I'm not sure what size he should be, but my breeder's dogs range in
weight from 15 to 25 lbs for adult dogs. Also, take a look at the dog food
called "Solid Gold", they actually eliminate the poultry because I heard the
owner is over the top and concerned about bird flu. Well, to each their
own, but I'm trying that as a new food for my dog. She's just become
"bored" eating the same old thing, so I'll be switching between Timber Wolf,
Solid Gold, and likely another brand. I'll check out his pics today. I
hope the vet can get him feeling better. Have you found out if any of these
immune deficiencies can be linked back as potential genetic problems to the
cocker or poodle? Breeder have to be so careful also, to breed healthy dogs
with good temperaments.

Good Luck, let us know how things go.

My thanks to everyone who responded to my post and gave such good
suggestions to help Pepper. He seems to be feeling alittle better today.
Tony just gave him his antibiotic, his benedryl, his ear drops, and we
cleaned his demadex and put cream on it which he immediately wiped off on my
sheets! The little rascal.

To try and answer all of the questions....

It is easy to see that Tony and I didn't pick a responsible breeder. I have
always had pound puppies and Pepper is the first one I have ever bought. We
didn't check her out, go to her house, we did meet the mom and the dad, and
mom was a full blood cocker spaniel. We think the dad was cockapoo with the
cocker traits. She had him shaved down unlike the mom, and his nose is like
Pep's nose-not typical cocker spaniel, more like the poodle side.

She has pretty much disappeared and I can't even find a phone number on her,
but if I ever see her again, I will give her a piece of my mind.

The doctor says that Pepper has a compromised immune system, so that while
other dogs can fight the normal staff that is on the skin and the demadex
mites that all dogs have naturally on their skin, Pepper can't fight them
off because he has no immune response. That is why everything makes him
sick. He is giving him shots now to help boost his immune response to the
staff infection. He is hoping to get it under control soon.

We have tried changing Pep's diet. He started on Iams, and then with all of
this, we made his food out of rice and hamburger, rice and chicken, rice and
tuna, etc. He did pretty good on it, but not the chicken-he had a breakout
with it. Then hurricane Ike came and we lost power for over 5 days, and we
couldnt make his food. We ended up putting him on Nutro natural Herring
meal and rice formula for dogs with sensetive stomachs and skin. He has
only been on it for a bit, so we shall see how he does on it. He is gaining
weight on it. He went from 16.8 lb to 18.6 lbs in a few weeks. I guess
that is a good sign.

I do have pics posted of him under Private First Class Pepper. You will see
in his baby pics that he looks just like a cocker spaniel puppy. In fact,
other people with dogs that look just like pepper, have cocker spaniels.
When they see Pepper now, they don't believe it is the same dog.

Well, if I missed a question, please let me know. Thanks again for all of
your kind posts.

Kim, Tony, Cynthia, Anthony, Pepper, Bandit, and all of the cats...LOL

LOL long story short, I tried timberwolf when they first started out, lots
of confusion and it took me 6 weeks to get it, they were on the Whole Dog
Journal list of 10 best dry foods out there, after all that waiting my dogs
would have nothing to do with it.

Another good dog food for allergies is California Natural, has the least
amount of ingredients and is tolerated well by most dogs with allergies.
They have several different varieties.

California Natural Dog Food, Natural Cat Food

Treats - Natura Pet Products
