Look on the dog food there should be a chart for how much by weight, it can range anywhere from 1 1/4 cups to 2 1/2 cups depending on the food, if he is active and slamming the bowl I would up it. I free feed and don't measure, I just fill the bowl when its empty, they eat a little here and there some days the bowl is cleaned out other days very little is missing.
