Folks, this is getting nowhere.

Chris Hanson (an apple engineer BTW) and Clark (and many others) have stated the correct answer (simply summarized below)

time to put this one to rest. there is nothing to argue about here.

Again, no. It is perfectly acceptable to pass an NSMutableArray where
an NSArray is expected.
