Yes. The PID is what uniquely identifies a process during its lifespan.

(Technically it’s possible for running code to see its PID change if the 
process forks, but it’s infeasible to fork anything but a bare-metal process on 
a Darwin-based OS, so you’ll never have to worry about that. I’m sort of afraid 
to mention this because it may turn into an off-topic rathole, but I’m also 
afraid that if I don’t mention it someone will be all “But what about forking, 
huh?” ;-)
