Hi,
I understand where you're coming from having just come down this road not to recently myself...

The path I took was Learn C -> Obj-C -> Cocoa. It worked really well because it went from the most basic to the more advanced starting at quite a low level.

The C tutorial I used was
http://gd.tuwien.ac.at/languages/c/programming-bbrown/cstart.htm

It's quite good and got me to learn a lot about C.

Then I echo the recommendation for Aaron Hillegass's Cocoa Programming and as an added recommendation -- grab the ADC doc "The Objective-C 2.0 Programming Langauge" and print a copy (I recommend getting it spiral bound). While learning it's a great reference to help refresh you when you get stuck. If you go with the Spiral Bound version at Kinko's double sided it should run about $10 to $15.
