Allowing empty selection did not clear the first row being selected. Also, calling deselectRow:0 at various time during table load does not clear the first row being selected.

Note that Apple has said this is somewhat of a bug and asked that I log a bug report.

Thanks for all suggestions!

Hi David

To prevent automatic row selection, you have to allow "Empty" selections in your table. Select your Table-View in IB, open the attributes inspector and check "Empty" to be enabled.

It's in the "Selection" part, near "Multiple", "Column" and "Type Select".

Patrick

How do I keep the first row in a table view from being selected when the table first loads?

The issue is that to get a selection did change for the first row I have to first select a different row because the first row is 'auto selected' when the table first loads.
