Yes, your screensaver must be GC-supported to support Snow Leopard. This bit me recently too - I wasn't expecting it either. So much for GC making our lives easier, eh? :) On the bright side, you can make your bundle GC-supported, which means it contains both retain/release and GC logic. This will at least buy you 10.5 & 10.6 support in the same bundle, but I imagine you'll have to compile a separate GC-unsupported version for 10.4, but I'm really not sure. Hopefully someone else could comment on that.
