In this case the caching became an issue presumably because of the large number
of files involved.

A question or two:

1. Is there an API for controlling the size of cache on a per process basis?

2. With regard to file caching what happens when a cached file is deleted?
Is it immediately removed from the cache or scavanged at some later date.
