What I gathered was that he wants to support iCloud for his normal
documents, but not for *specific export formats* because he can't read
them back in.
That's *very* different that not wanting to support iCloud.

Given the approaches Apple is taking with these technologies, I would
not be suprised if there is no such option. That said, I haven't seen
it.

First -- file a bug with Apple.

Second -- consider creating a generic container document that can read
the raw data of these export formats with the option to save them out.
The window could simply have some message indicating this document is
in an export-only format and can be saved, but not displayed or
edited. Give the user some visible option (button?) to save it to
another location.

Not the most elegant solution, but should prevent the black hole scenario.
