Probably because neither the progress view or your other view returns YES from 
-isOpaque, therefore when the progress invalidates its dirty rect is also 
passed to the views behind it. Not sure why it's just that end portion though, 
I would have expected the dirty rect to at least include the end of the filled 
progress bar.
