What about folks who end up in technology > management/direction positions for libraries? I would fall in the category of "coders who library." I had a student job in ILL while a grad student in music, and kept working in ILL while getting interested in IT & programming. Some of my early personal ILL process hacks accidentally became depended upon in production, and so I had to go pro to maintain them :) Having worked much of my career in libraries, the few years I spent away made it clear I had gained a lot of special domain knowledge in library systems. I don't know if I will ever seek a library degree, but I do consider libraries to be "my field." - -- ++++++++++++++++++++ Michael Berkowski University of Minnesota Libraries m...@umn.edu 612.626.6137 PGP Public Key: http://z.umn.edu/mjbpubkey ++++++++++++++++++++ -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iEYEARECAAYFAlO6tVMACgkQ01KJk46VC2ZKswCfZ4z8UD8e9rL/FdD+7LVkIk6R yf4AoKp7MzuHchBtj+EXm0MuOmWVck0H =GVHN -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
