guppy recently told me that an irc network had taken to auto-detecting eggdrops by their USER line. The EnergyMech (that I am project manager for) currently sends "USER <ident> . . :<ircname>" and I am contemplating changing this to something that could be auto-detected by admins that choose to do so, for example "USER <ident> <version> bot :<ircname>". Im neither advocating for or against such detection serverside, Im just wondering if the above example is the way to go or if there is a better way... /proton
