To Whom It May Concern: I just installed ircu2.10 IRC server on an Linux server. I followed the setup procedure and modified ircd.conf according to the instruction. I also installed an mIRC32 client on Windows 2000 workstation and tried the connection, the connection was very slow, the following messages poped up from mIRC client: -vtlinux.thruport.com- *** Looking up your hostname -vtlinux.thruport.com- *** Checking Ident -vtlinux.thruport.com- *** Got ident response then hanging there for a while (1 minute), then -vtlinux.thruport.com- *** Couldn't look up your hostname then PING? PONG! Welcome to the Internet Relay Network.... I just wonder what's the reason the connection hanging there for so long? is that because of hostname look up, how can I skip this procedure, or at least make it faster? The following is my ircd.conf: M:vtlinux.thruport.com:10.10.123.51:Thruport Technologies, VA, USA:0:1 A:Thruport Technologies:Undernet IRC Server:IRC Admins <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> # Y:<class>:<ping freq>:<connect freq>:<maximum links>:<sendq size> # Client classes. 10 = locals; 2 = for all .net and .com that are not # in Europe; 1 = for everybody.
