Of course a raw whois <nick> <nick> will always return the user's local away message.
At first I didn't think that this was a big deal, but after thinking about it, I realized this quirk would probably allow someone to identify a user's local server under the right circumstances. Since we are trying to keep that information hidden, I thought it best to mention it here.
I'm sorry that I am not coding the patch myself, but I am not familiar with the ircu code/checkout/patch process, and I guess that others will do it much more quickly and adeptly.
Background information: I tested this on the following servers: u2.10.11.04. Haarlem.NL.EU.UnderNet.Org B64AeEFfIKlMpSU u2.10.11.04. Oslo2.NO.EU.undernet.org B200AEFfIKlMpRSU
at approximately the following time: Sunday, March 2, 2003, 15:45 BST
I'm sure you will see what I mean, but if not, please feel free to ask.
