aha!  I removed time::hires on my test machine and collectl -sd -c1 works
fine for me.  then I saw you has -i0 so I tried that and lo and behold it
did fail.  -i0 is actually pretty special in that it's only there for me to
measure collectl performance as in (after reinstalling hires)

mjs@blkjak:/tmp/Time-HiRes-1.9715$ time collectl -i0 -c8640 -sd -f/tmp

real 0m3.824s
user 0m1.908s
sys 0m1.836s

which simulates a day's worth of 10 second samples and tells me how many
seconds it takes.

have you tried without hires and a non-0 interval?  clearly this is a bug
with the zero second interval and I'll fix that for the next release.
