I am out of the office right now without access to a machine to verify
this, but the interval for gexpr needs to be a multiple of collectl's
monitoring interval. If you look in the collector message log file you
should see an error saying this.
The reason this works when running manually is because the Interactive
monitoring interval is only one second.
The simple fix should be to change the demon monitoring interval to either
5 or 15 seconds. You can do this with the -i switch on the Daemon command
line.
