   Maybe I should provide more details: I have a template of a running instance 
(that of course has a NIC) that has some services connected to the net. What I 
want is to instantiate a new instance of this template, but unconnected to the 
net so that the services do not interfere with those running on the original 
instance. This way once I run the new instance I can manually deactivate the 
services and then successively connect the NIC.

   The network is of type shared. I tried to follow your indications but I 
can't find the <code>Egress rules</code> tab:
