Fixed in 0dd1a86a681. Bare DefaultValueSlot still resolves from the
destination position, while Default preserves and validates its referenced
field against the pinned Iceberg schema and resolves the write default by field
ID. Cross-column and unknown-column MERGE cases are covered; the main
Parquet/ORC regression also validates the cross-field result through Spark.

Addressed the remaining release-note point in 0dd1a86a681. The PR body,
release note, and design document now explicitly describe branch-head write
schemas, the unavailable-column behavior before a branch advances, and the
Spark-Iceberg alignment.
