In fact, our company is also a paid user of the commercial version of Imply, and we spend quite a lot of money on it every year. As an engineer working on the company's OLAP platform, I've been involved in the Druid project for almost three years. I've studied a large amount of Druid's source code and debugged many production issues. In the past, my code changes were only submitted internally within the company. Now, since our U.S.-based company is about to wind down its operations in China, I'm also facing layoffs soon and don't have much work these days. That's why I finally have time to clean up my previous code and submit it upstream. Losing my job has made me a bit anxious lately, and the recent bug-fix progress has been quite slow, so I ended up venting a little. I hope you don't mind.
