We had made a fat jar to run some standalone tests but did not get it reverted. We are reworking our bundling strategy in this PR https://github.com/apache/incubator-hudi/pull/751 to give a proper definition of what should be and what should not be bundled. I have already addressed timeline-service in that PR.
