@n3nash Just a high level thought before going through the changes thoroughly. How about keeping the old changes also and introduce a config `setDefaultValueWithSchemaEvolutionByDeletingFields` to support schema evolutions in case of deletion of a field? By default we can keep it as false to avoid the degradation as pointed out by @prashantwason .
