This issue was reviewed as part of the JIRA-migrated backlog triage. Findings: the requested change was delivered by PR #9336 (HUDI-6629), verified merged on 2023-08-08 as commit c6639fe2 with the exact title of this issue. The S3/GCS IncrSource ingestion jobs now take sourceLimit into account and slice the source dataset accordingly, addressing the OOM concern described here. This shipped in 0.14.0+.
