   One example is the Hudi CLI record-index lookup. With a partitioned RLI
table containing data in `p1`, looking up a key in an empty partition `p2`
using:

   ```text
   metadata lookup-record-index --record_key key1 --partition_path p2
   ```

   calls the partition-scoped lookup API directly. If `p2` has no matching RLI
file slices, the lookup calculates the shard index with a shard count of zero
and throws `ArithmeticException`, instead of returning the CLI's “not found in
Record Index” message.

   The regular SQL lookup paths have upstream guards, so this example
specifically concerns the CLI/direct metadata lookup path.
