This should probably work by using / reading git's own {{init.defaultBranch}}
configuration? - eg. like in
[https://github.blog/2020-07-27-highlights-from-git-2-28/#introducing-init-defaultbranch]
There's already a menu option for opening global git configuration in NetBeans.
Does it require JGit changes or all on NetBeans side?
