Joseph Witt commented on NIFI-1118:
-----------------------------------

[~jskora] First thank you for working to find a middle ground. I will point
out that I agree with you that even NIFI-1649 is an imperfect answer and still
not quite right. Clearly fixing it will be strained given what is reasonable
expectation of behavior is really just not defined. That said, [~markbean] did
a great job of laying out three cases for which the behavior does not meet what
his expected behavior would be. And i think there is agreement with him on
what is reasonable there and certainly one of the cases is just really
obviously wrong.

So for now let's make it a little bit more right to fix the holes you guys
found. Then on the other side of this let's document what this thing should
really do and let's get it right for 1.0 which is our next great chance to hit
the reset button and do the right thing. (Not at all saying we can't do more
for 0.7 just saying we have more liberty in 1.0)

I am going to move this to 0.7 based on this discussion and again thank you for
working through it. I think we've ended up at a point that is better than
where we were and we have a clear path to follow to get where it really needs
to be in time.

> Include the following functionality to the SplitText processor:
> 1) Maximum size limit of the split file(s)
> A new split file will be created if the next line to be added to the current
> split file exceeds a user-defined maximum file size
> 2) Header line marker
> User-defined character(s) can be used to identify the header line(s) of the
> data file rather than a predetermined number of lines
> These changes are additions, not a replacement of any property or behavior.
> In the case of header line marker, the existing property "Header Line Count"
> must be zero for the new property and behavior to be used.
