Hmm. 10% seems quite high. Seems like a timer shouldn't make things 10% slower.
Let me do a similar test with TestSamzaContainerPerformance.
Question: when you say that updateTimer took 10%, do you mean that the
operation *inside* updateTimer took 10%, or that the overhead of the
updateTimer (excluding the actual operation that the timer is wrapping) method
was 10%?
