Based on offline discussion, it sounds like the only way to get 2.11 support
with Kafka is to use 0.8.2-beta. I propose that we open a separate 2.11 upgrade
ticket, and just drop 2.9.2 support for now. This will leave us with just 2.10
support, which should be OK for the time being.
Current word is that 0.8.2 Kafka should be coming out in a month or so (before
our next post-0.8.0 release).
