Dinesh S. Atreya commented on HADOOP-12620:
-------------------------------------------

First of all, thank you very much for all of your inputs, especially
[~ste...@apache.org], [Allen Wittenauer |
https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/ViewProfile.jspa?name=aw] and [~wheat9] .

Regarding
{quote}
I'd be surprised if making HDFS R/W is "minimal"
{quote}

The word *"minimal"* highlights intention to keep it minimal to other
alternatives that may involve significant changes, the objective is to
*minimize* changes to HDFS as far as possible, not fully R/W "a la" POSIX but
allow in-place write/update.

Kindly use this JIRA primarily for Business Needs. It will be preferable to
delegate all technical discussions to the respective child JIRAs, now that
there is a consensus regarding business benefits of update-in-place.

*I am using this JIRA mainly for Business/Use Cases highlights.* It is very
encouraging to see the interest.

I have copied [~wheat9] comments above to [JIRA HDFS-9607 |
