Hello, I found a work around for this problem
-- The libhdfs files were elsewhere in the build in $HADOOP_HOME/build/c+ +/Linux-amd64-64/lib/ and not in the $HADOOP_HOME/build/libhdfs directory as the Makefile in fuse-dfs were pointing to.
